Privacy Policy
Latently helps users create project context from selected work materials and make that context available to AI tools through MCP.
This Privacy Policy explains how Latently collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use our website, product, connected services, and related services.
Latently is currently operated by its UK-based founder. References to "Latently", "we", "us", and "our" mean the person or entity operating the Latently service from time to time.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, contact us at: privacy@latently.ai
1. What Latently does
Latently lets users create projects and connect selected source material to those projects. This may include files, pages, documents, folders, databases, or other materials from third-party tools and services that you choose to connect, select, or upload.
We refer to these as Connected Services.
Latently does not index your entire connected account by default. We only access and process the source material that you choose to connect, select, or upload for a Latently project.
Latently processes selected source material into project context that AI tools can search and read through MCP. This may include extracted text, chunks, embeddings, metadata, source links, and related indexing information.
For uploaded files, Latently stores the extracted text and related project context needed to provide the service. Latently does not store the original uploaded file.
2. The types of information we collect
We may collect and process the following types of information.
Account information
When you create an account, we may collect information such as:
- •
your name
- •
email address
- •
login method
- •
account settings
- •
authentication information
- •
information provided through Google Sign-In, if you use it
Latently supports Google Sign-In and email/password sign-up.
Project and workspace information
When you use Latently, we may collect information about:
- •
projects you create
- •
project names and descriptions
- •
collaborators and workspace members
- •
project access settings
- •
source selections
- •
source status and sync information

If you use Latently as part of a team or workspace, workspace owners, project owners, or administrators may be able to see and manage information about the workspace, projects, collaborators, connected sources, access permissions, and usage or activity related to that workspace.
Connected Services information
When you connect a Connected Service, we may collect and process information needed to connect to that service and provide Latently, such as:
- •
connection and authorisation information
- •
account or workspace identifiers from the Connected Service
- •
metadata about selected files, pages, folders, databases, or other materials
- •
extracted text and content from the specific materials you select
- •
source links and related metadata
- •
sync status, error information, and update history
Latently only accesses content from Connected Services that you choose to connect, select, or upload. The types of Connected Services we support may change over time.
Project content
Project content means the content and information you choose to connect, select, or upload to Latently for use in a project.
This may include personal data about you, your colleagues, customers, clients, candidates, suppliers, or other third parties, depending on the material you choose to connect.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights, permissions, and lawful basis needed to connect, upload, or otherwise provide project content to Latently.
Latently does not use customer project content to train AI models.
MCP and AI client activity
Latently exposes project context through MCP so that your chosen AI client can request and read relevant context.
When you connect Latently to an AI client, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or another MCP-capable tool, that AI client may receive project context from Latently in response to user-authorised requests.
Your chosen AI client is a separate service. Its own terms and privacy policy apply to how it handles any project context it receives from Latently.
Latently does not currently send project content to third-party AI model providers itself.
Billing information
If you purchase a paid plan, payment information is processed by our payment provider, Stripe.
Latently does not store your full payment card details. Stripe may provide us with information such as your billing email, billing address, subscription status, payment status, plan, invoice details, and limited payment method information.

We may use analytics tools, including PostHog, to understand how users interact with Latently, improve the product, monitor performance, and diagnose issues.
We try to avoid logging raw project content or directly identifying information where practical. We do not use project content for analytics, marketing, advertising, or AI model training.

For account, billing, website, marketing, and direct relationship data, Latently will usually act as a controller.
6. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.

The AI client's own terms and privacy policy apply to how it handles that data.
Team members and workspace administrators
If you use Latently in a team or workspace, certain information may be visible to other members, project owners, workspace owners, or administrators depending on their role and permissions.
This may include information about projects, collaborators, connected sources, source status, access permissions, and usage or activity related to that workspace.

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- •
comply with law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- •
enforce our terms
- •
protect Latently, our users, or others
- •
investigate abuse, fraud, security issues, or technical problems

This information does not identify you and does not reveal customer project content.
For example, we may use aggregated information to understand feature usage, product performance, error rates, or general usage patterns.
9. Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide Latently, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect our rights.
Project content is retained while it is connected to or stored in a Latently project, unless deleted earlier.
If you delete a project or disconnect a source, we will remove the related extracted/indexed project data from active systems. It may remain in backups for up to 30 days before deletion.
For uploaded files, Latently stores extracted text and related project context, not the original uploaded file.
We may retain certain limited records for longer where necessary for billing, tax, accounting, legal, security, abuse prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
